Original independent concept / Surface pattern
Orchard Sunday
A generous fruit repeat with warm, rounded shapes.
The imagined brief
The fictional brief imagines a cheerful everyday textile with a repeat that feels loose rather than rigid. Oversized fruit silhouettes create an easy rhythm; small offset leaves give each motif a direction.
The pattern decision
The repeat uses a staggered row. Fruit colours alternate without forming a strict diagonal stripe, so the surface stays lively from a distance. The palette combines blush, deep green, red and yellow. The flat study shows the full pattern rather than suggesting a finished fabric.
The complete repeat is shown without cropping so the relationship between motifs can be assessed. A future project could explore alternate density or scale within an agreed scope.
